Mthatha Song

Posted below for your enjoyment are the lyrics to the Mthatha song, written by my nephews with a little help from their mother. It is sung to the tune of the Oom-pah-pah song from the musical Oliver!

Mthatha, Mthatha
That’s how it goes
Mthatha, Mthatha
Everyone knows.
They all suppose what they want to suppose!
When they say Mthatha.

There’s a little tsotsi
Who’s drinking up his floatsi
He’s hoping that he-e-
Will never get caught.
But the cops chase him
But he just wants to race ‘em
And they are thrown off by a cow and a goat.

(Chorus)

Here is little Thandi
Who’s feeling mighty dandy
She’s selling her umngqusho
And pumpkin so sweet.
But the customers demand
They don’t want to pay 10 Rand
They would much rather have a plateful of meat.

(Chorus)

Here’s a friendly chappy
Who’s feeling mighty happy
He’s speeding over speed bumps in his brand new Merc.
Then he hits a big sheep
Because he fell asleep
And now he’s forced to take the old taxis to work!

I was going to get a recording to post here, but I didn't get the time before we left. It’s too bad too because it was glorious.
